Delta Kappa

at Slippery Rock University

Chapter History

Delta Kappa was originally chartered at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1963 and re-chartered again on November 14, 1987.  The Delta Kappa Chapter at Slippery Rock was re-colonized in 1987.

The original group of women was known as the Sigma Pi Little sisters. At the time the National IFC disbanded all recognized little sister organizations. These women knew that they would not all be extended bids to any of the existing sororities and did not want to be split up.

They approached the Greek Advisor and were advised that they could contact any other NPC chapter to see if they had interest in starting a chapter at Slippery Rock University. Alpha Xi Delta and the Zeta Tau Alpha both had dormant chapters so they had to be contacted first. ZTA did not express an interest in re-establishing their chapter. Alpha Xi Delta was interested and set up the Xi colony. The founding sisters and Alpha pledge class were all initiated during the fall semester of 1988.
